Full Job Description
Big Data Institute, Li Ka Shing Centre for Health and Information Discovery, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LF
Join the Big Data Institute as a Statician, and play a pivotal role in advancing the analysis of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data. Working under the guidance of Dr. Habib Ganjgahi, you will focus on developing computationally scalable methods for analyzing imaging data, designing simulation studies to validate models, and applying these techniques to real-world datasets, including the UK Biobank.
In this role, you will develop a hierarchical Bayesian model that captures spatial dependencies and sparsity in fMRI data. You will extend threshold-free cluster enhancement methods to improve spatial specificity in voxel-wise analyses and design rigorous validation processes through simulation studies. Additionally, you will collaborate with the research team to create reproducible analytical tools, troubleshoot technical challenges, and contribute to the dissemination of results through publications and presentations.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a Masters degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, or a related field. You will have demonstrable expertise in statistical methods and programming, along with experience drafting academic manuscripts and presenting research findings. Strong organisational and time-management skills are essential to meet project deadlines.
