gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Procurement Operations Strategic Buyer to work at their facility based near Birmingham
Performance Objectives
+ Supplier negotiation using a number of different negotiation techniques including individual supplier meetings, e-auctions and supplier summits between others.
+ Management and benchmark existing suppliers, working with the Site Engineers / Maintenance Engineers to identify possible alternative products / sources of supply, and arranging Site trials in conjunction with Engineers.
+ Ensure contracts, NDAs are in place for all suppliers and in conjunction with the Procurement Manager and SPAs negotiate renewals prior to expiry date to ensure continuity of supply.
+ Ensure all Agreements have Legal approval and done accordingly to the SOP and maintain MSIS and the contract database update.
+ Work on cost savings initiatives and manage the savings database to record all savings achieved.
+ Health & Safety is an important part of the work that is carried out on Site and all Contractors are required to have a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire and liaise with the EHS and PQQ team to ensure the compliance of this process.
+ Complete the monthly self-assessment ASAT tool in conjunction with the Procurement Manager in a timely manner and in accordance with the requirements.
+ Attend daily Engineering meetings and other meetings with suppliers and SPAs.
+ Assist the different teams to solve finance and requisitions queries.
+ Support the Procurement Manager in different tasks i.e. reporting, preparation of events like Kaizen and supplier summits and other admin tasks etc.
+ Responsible to implement and follow procedures.
+ Negotiating T&Cs between the Supplier and internal Legal Team.
+ General administrative duties as associated with the running of a procurement office.
+ Travel might be required.

+ Must hold a degree in Business administration/Economics/Supply Chain or other business-related degree. Ideally if candidate possess CIPS proved qualifications.
+ Must have experience in Indirect Purchasing with a manufacturing background.
+ A minimum of 2 years' experience in a procurement role or related business negotiation experience on Indirect Purchasing.
+ Excellent verbal and written communicator.
+ Excellent customer service.
+ The ability to work and think in a pressurised, ever-changing environment is essential and most important to meet tight deadlines.
+ To know how to prioritise tasks.
+ Analytical skills required.
+ Pro-active attitude.
+ Good level of managing Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Contract Management Experience.
+ Conflict Resolution.
+ Proven decision-making and project management.
+ Being a team player is essential.
Preferred Skills
+ To have good presentation skills.
+ Studying towards CIPS or being fully qualified.
+ Good level of understanding and interpreting UK Commercial Law.
+ Experience in Indirect Purchasing in the Manufacturing area.
