Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Planner who wants to drive forward major strategic projects? We have an exciting opportunity for you in our Strategic Growth Team where you will be leading on strategic planning projects across the District. The Strategic Growth Team have experience of and continue to deal with a comprehensive range of applications and development types including a new 4250 home community currently under construction. In addition to this, Blaby District Council has been granted Garden Village status by the government for the potential future development of Whetstone Pastures in the south-east of the District. Reporting to the Planning & Strategic Growth Group Manager, you will manage a small team of officers and work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to develop and drive forward strategic development opportunities as well as support the delivery of District wide economic growth objectives. Other key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead on major strategic development projects from conception through to delivery.
  • Facilitate collaborative working with key stakeholders and other planning departments
  • Develop and organise an appropriate project management structure for strategic development proposals
  • Negotiate and secure Planning Performance Agreements
  • Support and develop bids for external funding
  • Each day will be varied, therefore having experience of developing and delivering strategic growth is an essential for the role.
