Full Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity to become part of our innovative and vibrant Public Health Department. We are looking for a passionate and driven Strategic Lead Health Improvement Programmes to join our dynamic Health Improvement Team. In this key leadership role, you will design and drive high-impact health improvement initiatives that enhance the wellbeing of our community and drive reductions in health inequities. Working across sectors, you'll influence policy, champion prevention and lead innovative strategies to improve the health of Leicestershire residents. The role involves managing a diverse team, as well as a broad range of projects. You will be responsible for setting and delivering the strategic direction on a number of projects and public health portfolio areas to the wider system, including:
- Start a Conversation (Suicide Prevention)
- Making Every Contact Count
- Public Health Communications
- Schools and Early Years The role will ensure the correct services are developed, commissioned, and implemented based on needs, as well as identifying and progressing opportunities to further develop links with partners within health and the wider community. Understanding the wider marketplace, ensuring that services remain 'fit for purpose' responding to local needs, national drivers, and international evidence, are also crucial elements to the role. - Have a professional qualification at masters level or above in a subject relevant to public health, or have a large depth and breadth of demonstrable public health experience.
- Comprehensive experience of developing, facilitating and leading partnership working to ensure an integrated and connected approach across departments, organisations and systems in relation to public health, including utilisation of strong communication skills such as negotiating and influencing.
- Experience of developing and implementing strategy in a complex, multi-professional and multi-organisational environment.
- Significant experience of leading and managing people across several projects within multiple disciplines, setting clear priorities and objectives and negotiating and implementing effective outcomes.
- Identifying, assessing and monitoring the health needs of the local population and devising and delivering evidence-based programmes to address needs, whilst undertaking monitoring, evaluating success and reporting programme progress to senior managers.
- The ability to work autonomously, making decisions at the appropriate time, considering the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints and availability of information, whilst communicating, liaising and collaborating with department management team and colleagues in other departments when necessary. You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
