Full Job Description

As the Strategic Business Planning Manager, you will provide a lead role for internal cross-directorate and cross-council programmes on behalf of Economy, Environment & Infrastructure (EE&I) directorate, involving co-ordination, representation, and decision-making and provide cover for the Executive Director and Directors, at county and regional meetings involving strategic cross-cutting issues around transport, environment and the economy. You will lead and manage a team responsible for strategic business planning, co-ordination of governance activity, research, and task & finish initiatives across the directorate as directed by the Executive Director. Within this role you and your team will be covering a range of different service areas to include highways, planning, transport, economic development, skills, environment, waste, libraries, registration and major projects. You'll be joining at an exciting time, directly contributing to ambitious plans for our area and the services we support. Your work will be critical in us achieving the ambitions set out in our current council strategy.

We are looking for a talented and driven professional, with good analytical and decision making skills who can manage conflict and resistance positively and appropriately. To be successful you will need excellent organisational skills to allow you to prioritise workloads and ensure service levels are maintained. You will need to be comfortable managing in an agile way and have strong relationship management skills, able to quickly build rapport at all levels in the council and across partner organisations.
