Strategic Property Manager

Lewisham Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Property Manager to support the management of the Council's property portfolio, providing assured technical and commercial advice, and leading on valuation, planning and development services. What's the role? This is an exciting opportunity to join the Council's Property and Capital Programme service, focused on effective asset management and strategic land use in support of the Council's corporate objectives, including its recently adopted Asset Management Strategy. The role of Strategic Property Manager is crucial in ensuring a commercially managed property and land portfolio that meets resident's needs, creates income generating opportunities, identifies housing growth opportunities and promotes economic growth. The role will provide assured professional, commercial and technical advice and be responsible for a full range of valuation, planning and development services in relation to the property portfolio. The post holder will lead on a range of work including acquisitions, disposals, valuations, lease negotiations, development agreements, Compulsory Purchase Orders, and other property related matters. The role will pro-actively identify new opportunities for better utilisation and management of the property portfolio, obtain necessary approvals and manage procurement and other commercial processes to deliver the required outcomes.

We are looking for a self-motivated and focused individual with a relevant property related qualification and/or RICS status. Candidates should be able to demonstrate significant experience and a proven track record in the property management sector, including strong knowledge of valuation, planning and development functions. A comprehensive understanding of relevant local, regional and national legislation, regulations, and policies is essential. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as political acumen, enabling you to engage effectively with senior colleagues, Councillors, MPs, commercial tenants and residents. You will be confident and experienced in presenting and proposing schemes to a variety of stakeholders and be solution focused. You will also bring commercial acumen and the drive to challenge the status quo.
