Full Job Description

As Derbyshire County Councils Strategic workforce planning manager, you will play a crucial role in aligning our organisational objectives with our people strategies. You will be responsible for analysing current workforce capabilities, forecasting future talent needs, and developing strategies to ensure the organisation has the right people with the right skills at the right time. This role involves collaboration with key stakeholders across HR and the organisation to drive workforce optimisation and support the council's transformation goals.
The role holder will be responsible for:
Workforce Analysis
+ Conduct thorough analyses of the current workforce, identifying skills, capability & competencies, and potential gaps.
+ Utilise data and analytics to assess trends, attrition rates, and employee demographics.
Strategic Planning
+ Collaborate with senior leadership to understand council's future plans and aspirations and translate them into actionable workforce plans, now and for the future.
+ Develop and implement strategic workforce plans to align with organisational goals and objectives.
Talent Strategy
+ Conduct workforce forecasting to anticipate future needs based on the council plan, horizon scanning and digital advancements and strategies.
+ Identify critical roles and the key capabilities / skills required for future success.
Collaboration
+ Work closely with wider HR colleagues, recruiting managers and directors to understand resourcing needs and ensure alignment with strategic workforce plans.
+ Collaborate with the Learning & Development Team to implement programmes that address identified skills gaps.
Change Management
+ Support the council with transformational change initiatives by assessing the impact on the workforce.
+ Provide guidance on workforce adjustments during periods of organisational change.
