Full Job Description

  • Performing simulation and analysis of structures andequipment subjected to dynamicloading
  • Providing structural design guidance at design reviewswith respect to naval shock loadcases
  • Following internal procedures and developing evidence ofcompliance through written calculations andreports
  • Undertaking peer review checking activities to approvemethods andcalculations
  • Leadingand supporting the identification and rapid closure of issuesemerging from all product lifecyclestages
  • Leadingtechnical development and research activities, methods andacceptance criterion, liaising with industrial partners andexternal customers asnecessary
  • Providing realistic programme status, identify problemareas and implement agreed recoveryplans
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineerswithin the team

    Mechanical Engineering Degree (orrelated STEM degree)
  • Understanding of the principles ofstructural mechanics anddynamics
  • Understanding of material strengthproperties (elastic and plasticproperties)
  • Experienced in using Finite ElementAnalysis (FEA)software
  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of MatLab, MathCad andPython
  • Abaqus FEA software knowledge or awillingness to learn

The Dynamics team : TheDynamics Team are responsible for demonstrating a vessel's systemscontinued functionality after experiencing shock loading caused byNaval Underwater Explosion Events (UNDEX). As a Principal Engineerwithin the Dynamics department, you will undertake complexsimulation and analysis of structures and mounting systems whichsupport and protect vital equipment from high acceleration levelsduring naval shock events.
