Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our expanding team in Bristol. You will be expected to:
- Lead and undertake assignments in the UK and overseas
- Receive, analyse and verify the consistency of input data
- Take responsibility for producing deliverables (e.g. design hypotheses, methodology and assumption notes; technical specifications; calculation notes; technical reports)
- Coordinate the work of CAD Designers
- Perform technical verifications of civil engineering design notes, models and drawings
- Contribute to the surveillance of anchorages designed by equipment suppliers
- Contribute to CDM reviews, create and maintain the Design Risk Register (DRR)
- Liaise with site based engineering teams to facilitate construction
- Assist in the management of the design process that may include other related design disciplines/teams
- Assist with coordinating design as part of an internal team and liaising with external associated professionals and clients
- Implement and adhere to Company procedures and best practice in the management, delivery and administration of Services
Degree qualified Civil/Structural Engineer; post graduate qualifications would be beneficial - Chartered (or near Chartered) in a relevant discipline (ICE, IStructE)
- Working knowledge of structural design processes, with an emphasis on data interpretation, design & analysis, construction and advanced numerical modelling
- Structural design experience, particularly in the design of industrial reinforced concrete structures
- Working knowledge of Eurocodes and other national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies and procedures
- Experience of computer analysis and design in common materials i.e. steel and concrete
- Awareness of health and safety, including possession of current CSCS Card
- Excellent Microsoft Office abilities (particularly Excel)
- Experience in structural analysis/finite element software such as LUSAS, Robot and Fagus
- Knowledge of 3D design software such as PDMS and TEKLA
- Ability to consult 2D/3D drawings or models in software such as Autocad 2D and Navisworks
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively to all levels both internally and with external clients. Excellent reporting writing skills
