What you'll be doing

In your role, you'll report directly to the Head of Engineering Delivery, managing a team of structural integrity and issue resolution specialists that provide technical input on non-conformances and design changes.

Your role will involve leading projects to mitigate structural integrity risks and providing high-quality technical advice to other parts of NNB and the Design Authority (DA). This advice will support resolving design and safety case issues related to building a fleet of EPR reactors in the UK.

You'll assist in developing the site-specific safety case, offering expert contributions in Structural Integrity, and strong collaboration with NNB, Responsible Designer (RD) Engineering organisations, and regulatory bodies will be key in all Structural Integrity matters.

You'll also specify, manage, and coordinate support from external organisations in the field of Structural Integrity. Additionally, you'll support the Head of Function by driving strategy, resources, processes, business plans, budgets, and activities in the Structural Integrity area.

You should be educated to degree level (or have equivalent experience) in a subject relevant to Structural Integrity.

You bring specialist expertise in Structural Integrity, with experience analysing engineering components in the nuclear or another safety-related industry. Your understanding of the UK's Structural Integrity requirements within the nuclear sector, or equivalent experience from a high-hazard industry, enables you to effectively establish Structural Integrity strategies, and you are proactive and self-motivated, tackling both technical and non-technical tasks with ease.

Your excellent technical writing and communication skills, combined with a proven track record in team leadership, allow you to successfully manage technical risks. You also have a history of effectively engaging stakeholders when it comes to high-value technical risks.

Experience assessing Structural Integrity processes and providing sound advice based on established procedures is beneficial. Experience in specialized areas like Safety Cases, Structural Assessment, Materials, Welding, or Non-Destructive Testing is valuable. Familiarity with RCC-M or ASME III nuclear design codes is a plus.
