Structures Project Engineer

In the role of Structures Project Engineer, here's an example of what you'll be doing to make an impact:

• Identify engineering requirements for construction projects and design


appropriate solutions to ensure that works undertaken meet relevant policies, procedures, specifications & standards.

• Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, contract documents


and schedules to ensure projects are completed to agreed timescales, appropriate standards and within budgets.

• Programme, plan and undertake testing, inspection, and surveying work,


(Including preparation of feasibility reports and assessments) to safely maintain infrastructure assets.

• Provide structural engineering advice for other sections, departments and


outside clients in order that their instructions are carried out to agreed timescales, appropriate standards and within budgets.

• Recent experience in the design and delivery of highway bridges and structures.



• Collaborator with proven ability in delivering project work to challenging deadlines.



• Experience of supervising technical staff.



• Experience in carrying out duties and responsibilities under the CDM regulations. A good knowledge of various conditions of contract (eg: NEC, ICE) and contract administration.



• Ability to use CAD and knowledge of Structural Engineering software such as Quickport/Quickjoint, SAND, STRAP and TEDDS



• Experience and ability to carry out general and principal inspections in accordance with the requirements of the DMRB and Management of Highway Structures Code of Practice



• Extensive knowledge of Specification for Highways Works and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.



• Ability to give guidance on technical standards



• Extensive working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relevant to the construction industry
