Full Job Description

Job Overview: Sussex Estates and Facilities (SEF) are looking to appoint a Night Porter at the University of Sussex. The primary function of the post is to attend to both student and visitor inquires, carry out minor maintenance and to offer assistance to our residents and visitors. Some cleaning, patrolling, and other associated duties will be required. Shifts will be worked on a 12-hour shift pattern (i.e. three night on/three nights off), Main Duties: General reception duties - responding to enquiries from students, visitors and staff (in person, by telephone or via e-mail),Dealing with lock outs, Issuing and monitoring to key issues and replacements, Processing and issuing post and parcels. Using IT systems including responding to e-mail requests, maintaining robust records and have a knowledge of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations)Responding to complaints including issues of anti-social behaviour, Maintain accurate records on overnight duty logs and defects reporting. Provide and receive a detailed handover to day staff. Responding to and reporting hazards, defects and building related problems, Cleaning both internal and external areas to a high standard, Patrolling of buildings and grounds and monitoring security of accommodation, Monitoring fire alarm activity Assist the team in keeping all areas organised, clean and in good order, Respond positively to management requests to undertake extra tasks (especially
in peak periods), Work collaboratively with other teams including Security.

What we are looking for: Be driven to providing excellent customer service, Be experienced in working in a public facing setting, Have basic IT skills or a willingness to learn new skills Have experience in working with a wide range of people from different backgrounds, Be able to work positively and collaboratively in a team, Possess good record keeping skills Have a conscientious approach to work and be pro-active and diligent, Be able to multi-task with the ability to manage own workload and prioritise according to service demands, Have good safety awareness and observational skills and Be able to manoeuvre loads up to 10-15KG.
