Full Job Description
You will be responsible for managing and overseeing the successful operation, continuous improvement and expansion of our successful Student Ambassador programme. You will plan and oversee the recruitment and training of new and returning ambassadors, ensuring the scheme effectively targets students from underrepresented groups. You will liaise with staff across Goldsmiths to promote the scheme, source varied work opportunities and match Student Ambassadors with these (balancing supply and demand). You will set behaviour and conduct standards, coaching students to develop professional skills and behaviours that align with the expectations of the Student Ambassador role. You will also encourage students to focus on and develop their employability skills and experience through taking on a range of different types of work and taking part in professional development programmes such as the Gold Award. You will administer the scheme and ensure that all scheme processes are carried out efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner. You will be responsible for working closely with Human Resources, Payroll and recruiting staff to ensure the smooth running of the scheme.,
- To plan, promote and oversee the recruitment of Student Ambassadors each year, ensuring that the scheme effectively targets students from under-represented groups, thus meeting the objectives of Goldsmiths Employability Framework (Pillars 2 and 5) and the Access & Participation Plan
- To plan and manage the deployment of Student Ambassadors each year, ensuring that the ambassadors are offered a range of work across the institution in order to enable them to develop their employability and knowledge of the workplace.
- To promote the scheme to staff across Goldsmiths and liaise with staff to source work opportunities & to match Student Ambassadors with these (balancing supply and demand).
- To coordinate, design and deliver a comprehensive training programme, focused on giving students confidence to participate in the scheme and to take on different types of work
- To monitor the effectiveness of the scheme, soliciting regular feedback from recruiting staff and the ambassadors, and to gather data to measure learning gain and the impact of the scheme on the Graduate Outcomes Survey.
- To manage any under-performance of Ambassadors, providing feedback, signposting to Wellbeing Support where appropriate, and offering training and coaching.,
- To manage Student Ambassador conduct issues as they arise, with the goal of increasing each student's ability to manage themselves, and their knowledge of acceptable workplace behaviours. Where the Code of Conduct is broken to take appropriate action, including ending the student's contract when appropriate and where necessary to escalate serious infractions to senior management.
- To work with the Human Resources team to efficiently onboard the new and returning Ambassadors each year & to oversee DBS checks for Ambassadors as needed, liaising with Human Resources as appropriate
- To manage booking of Ambassadors for staff across Goldsmiths
- To prepare and submit accurate Student Ambassador pay claims to the Payroll department each month.
- To plan and manage the Scheme's annual budget, ensuring all spend is kept within budget and that procurement decisions are regularly reviewed.
- To streamline all processes to allow for significant scheme expansion
- To encourage Student Ambassadors to meet the HEAR criteria for the Student Ambassador & Student Ambassador Plus & to promote what the Careers Service offers to the ambassadors consistently throughout the year.
- To keep the Student Ambassador Student and Staff handbooks up to date and to devise any required changes to processes and procedures as the scheme evolves. General
- To keep abreast of employability best practice from across the Higher Education sector, including participation in national bodies, such as AGCAS
- To promote and exemplify inclusive working practices and strive for diversity within the organisation and its services, ensuring that that you are aware of and aligned with Goldsmiths' Regulations, Strategy, and Objectives to work together to proactively advance Equality and Diversity
- At all times help to maintain a safe working environment by participating in training as necessary and following the Goldsmiths' Health and Safety Codes of Practice and Policy
- To contribute to activities and working groups within the wider Careers Service team and to undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required, Staff are expected to portray a positive image at all times, both internally and externally of the Service by displaying high standards of service, integrity, punctuality, politeness and professionalism.
