Full Job Description
We are recruiting for a student midwife to join our Maternity services at the Royal London Hospital. This 2-year Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery aims to produce competent, caring, research and evidence-based midwives, capable of delivering effective woman-centred care for mothers and their families within these contexts. Midwives of the 21st century practice within dynamic, rapidly changing and diverse contexts and require personal, academic and professional skills to practice in an optimum way. During the 2-year course, time will be split between the London South Bank University Southwark and The Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, Whitechapel, E1 1FR. This is course will lead to an exciting career in Midwifery with a diverse range of opportunities to enhance your future careers., To communicate effectively with women and their families and provide a high standard of Midwifery care throughout preconception, antenatal, intra-partum and postnatal periods under the supervision of the Registered Midwife/Mentor. To diagnose pregnancy, assess and monitor women holistically throughout the preconception, antenatal, intra-partum and postnatal stages through the use of a range of assessment methods and reach valid, reliable and comprehensive conclusions under the supervision of the Registered Midwife/Mentor. To work towards achieving the midwifery standards of proficiency agree with the HEI provider and set out in the Midwifery Practice Assessment Document. To work towards achieving experience under supervision of the activities of the midwife as outlined in the European Union Midwives Directive (80/155/EEC Article 4).
- Active Adult Nursing Registration (NMC Registration)
- A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2:2: with a minimum qualification of Diploma in Higher Education with evidence of study at Level 6
- Proven post registration experience
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalencies or IELTS 7
