Full Job Description

The role leads the FE College Discretionary Funds assessment and award process inclusive of Childcare and Free College Meals, alongside close working with the College's FE Fees and Finance Team, Transport Working Group and Safeguarding department. You will work collaboratively, with key partners, to ensure that the College's financial support has the maximum impact on access and progression, including acting as a key point of communication for students and parents / carers in promoting and advising on the bursary process.

The main focus and day to day activity of the role is the assessing and administration of Bursary Applications and Award information. This includes joint line management of a small Bursary Administrative Team. Bursary assessment processes require the ability to understand household income and the benefits system, alongside providing information directly to students on their eligibility for a Bursary Award.

Training and support towards developing an understanding of statutory guidance will be provided.

The post will be based at both the Buxton and Leek campuses, movement between the campuses will be necessary on a regular basis.

This post will be part-time 18.5 hours per week over 2.5 days. However, this can be negotiated at interview.

The post will be on a job share basis, working closely with the current post holder and will be on a fixed term contract initially for 12 months.

You will be digitally focused and have the ability to use a range of technologies to support the digitalisation of the service. You will also be comfortable with using technology to gather information, to gain a clear understanding of the trends and performance of services to FE students.

As this post involves working with children and vulnerable adults, post-holders will require an Enhanced DBS with barred list check prior to employment. The post holder will also complete mandatory safeguarding training as part of their induction.
