Student Placement for Trainee Assay Development Scientist - BATS, Animal Health Science and Technology (Milton Keynes), Our Animal Health Science and Technology's BATS department is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate trainee to join our global team as an assay development scientist. This full-time, lab-based role is situated at our picturesque manufacturing site in Milton Keynes. Throughout the twelve-month internship, you will play a vital role in assisting the development and validation of new assays (ELISA, FPLC, and cell-based) focused on testing veterinary vaccines, with an emphasis on the 3R principles (replacement, reduction, and refinement of animal testing).   • Collaborate on the development, troubleshooting, and validation of in vitro assays, including cell-based assays, ELISAs, and FPLC.
  • Provide support for the maintenance of cell lines in the tissue culture lab.
  • Assist in planning, executing, and reporting on experiments under the guidance of the project lead.
  • Conduct literature searches related to the subject matter.
  • Fulfil general tasks related to health and safety, good manufacturing practice (GMP), and IT.

    Strong enthusiasm and interest in working within a laboratory environment.
  • Good organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • You must currently be at a UK university and looking to complete a 12-month student internship as part of your undergraduate degree.
