We are looking for ….
An NMC registered nurse who would like to access a fully funded training opportunity (Level 7), to qualify as a registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse), commencing January 2025 with the University of Greenwich.
For more information on the role of a school nurse, have a look at School Nursing in the South East - Welcome (southeastclinicalnetworks.nhs.uk), Successful applicants will be sponsored/seconded on a midpoint Band 5 salary for the duration of the programme. Tuition fees are paid by the NHS. Travel expenses will be paid when on business travel only.
The programme comprises 50% theory and 50% practice and runs for 45 weeks per year with holidays at various points throughout the programme.
Attendance at university for taught session is usually two days per week between 09:00 and 17:00. You will also be expected to undertake self-directed study when not in university.
We will provide you with a wide range of experiences in a diverse population; giving you the chance to develop the skills and competencies to become a registered school nurse.
You will be fully integrated into a friendly, supportive team who work together to ensure you have every opportunity to fulfil the requirements of the programme, including 1:1 support from a Practice Assessor/Supervisor., + Annual leave is fixed and non-negotiable for the duration of the programme. Booking annual leave outside the agreed dates is not possible due to the planned programme and ability to complete within the time frame.

+ Your statement should be no longer than 300-400 words maximum.
+ We want to employ people who are motivated and have a passion for working with children and families; make sure you give clear reasons for applying for this opportunity.
+ You need to be able to demonstrate that you understand what school nurses do. You may want to reference Department of Health documents as evidence that you have been actively researching, however it is as important that you are able to describe the skills you have that are transferrable to the role of a school nurse.
Please check your application carefully before submitting; some avoidable errors, which could result in your application being rejected are:
+ Nursing qualifications not recorded on form
+ Expired NMC pin number
+ No NMC pin details
+ Inconsistencies in information and employment history
+ No evidence of having necessary academic requirements
+ Poor supporting statement - no relevance to SCPHN, providing a job description for your current role will not demonstrate what is required.
+ Both academic and practice assessment elements must be passed to enable registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

· Applicants need to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK).
· Applicants should have a relevant degree, normally at 2:2 or above (a minimum of 120 credits at Level 6)
· To be eligible to make an RPEL claim for entry to level 7 students must be a registered Nurse or Midwife. Students must be in possession of a relevant Diploma in Higher Education (consisting of at least 120 credits at level 5) and at least 15 level 6 credits and be able to produce evidence of this when requested.
· Normally, where English is not a first language applicants should demonstrate evidence of previous study in the English language or have a minimum International English Language Testing System score of 7 in every skill.
On successful completion of the training and admission to NMC register, we would be looking at employing you as a School Nurse (Band 6) with opportunities to progress your career further.
