Full Job Description
The objective and purpose of this role is to maximise net income (or profit), for the charity (objective 2 above), to enable us to resurge from the financial challenge arising from COVID-19, and to establish a sustainable, highly profitable retail Superstore. This will be driven by the effective and efficient running of the store operation maximising voluntary income growth, establishing your Barnardo's Superstore as a highly effective Retail operation within its community. Your actions would continually reinforce the Barnardo's Basis and Values increasing brand perception at all times.,
- Generate a donated stock plan ensuring that there are sufficient donated, Maximise the opportunities of donated stock by optimising volume, merchandising and price according to the Barnardo's price guide.
- Maximise the opportunities of GIK stock by optimising volume, merchandising and price.
- Maximise the opportunities of New Goods stock by optimising range, merchandising and pricing.
- Ensure stock management is effectively utilised to optimise net income.
- Engage the store team and supporters in the Gift Aid scheme.
- Fully utilise Barnardo's reporting systems to ensure you and the team are kept up to date with current performance.
- Achieve sales and profit targets by using data available to you to make sound commercial decisions that maximise sales and minimise costs.
- Complete commercial reviews within your store on a daily, weekly basis to ensure you maintain the highest standards of merchandising and customer service.
- Complete daily, weekly Health and Safety checks to ensure you meet the legal requirements and guidance provided to you by Barnardo's.
- Implement seasonal campaigns and promotional activity in line with the Stores and Marketing Activity Plan.
- Work in collaboration with the Fundraising and Area team to actively promote Barnardo's in the community through store events and FR activity.
- Develop the ecommerce business within your store through engaging with and supporting the ecommerce team with donated stock.
- Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the Store including the sales floor and off sales areas.
- Where stock is moved in and out of your store ensure this is completed in line with the Stock Management process and procedures.
- Ensure your stock room is set up to optimise productivity and efficient replenishment in line with Health and Safety requirements.
- Ensure where required the Café within your store is managed in line with the Barnardo's policies and procedures.
- Provide training, development, and reviews for all colleagues to enable them to perform their roles to the best of their ability.
- Work in line with the labour model to ensure you have the R.P.R.T.R.P creating an environment where colleagues want to be and customers want to shop.
- Communicate and engage regularly with your store team keeping them up to date and informed on everything they need to know to be at their best.
- Ensure that all colleagues are aware of and fully understand Barnardo's and Retail specific policies and procedures so that they adhere to these at all times.
- Develop a recruitment and retention plan for Volunteering one that represents your local community attracting a sufficient and diverse number of Volunteers optimising sales and profit in your store.
- Be the Charity of Choice for Volunteers in your local community by providing an exceptional experience for anyone who gives their time freely.
- Ensure all relevant administration is completed on time and according to the Barnardo's policies and procedures.
- Ensure all financial, cash handling and security procedures are adhered to as per the Barnardo's policies and procedures.
- Be responsible for the safe management of all store keys., Notify relevant people where there are any security or safety incidents in your store.
- Provide a safe environment that protects all colleagues, and the public.
- Comply with all Health and Safety (H&S) regulations as per Barnardo's H&S Policy.
- Ensure all Retail Safeguarding Policies and procedures including Risk Assessments and Equality Impact Assessments are completed in line with the required practice and standards.
