Full Job Description

The role involves supporting the Contracts Manager in ensuring that the team, comprising trade operatives and contractors, delivers a customer-centric service aligned with the service deliverables. This includes overseeing improvements, future programming, responsive actions, and void repairs for both housing and non-housing stock. The position requires a focus on enhancing efficiency and effectiveness to facilitate continuous service improvement, while adhering to compliance with contract specifications and best practices. The successful candidate will also engage in both independent site visits and office-based tasks.

The responsibilities encompass comprehensive operational supervision, including management, technical guidance, and performance oversight for the trade teams. The individual will assist the Contracts Manager in resource planning and allocation, ensuring alignment with projected workflows and budgets. Leadership skills are essential for fostering a positive team culture and ensuring compliance with contract standards. Additionally, the role requires effective use of mobile devices for work completion, conducting safety inspections, and collaborating with the scheduling team to optimize resource management and productivity.

Furthermore, this role includes interpreting drawings and specifications, procuring necessary materials, and ensuring timely job completion. Compliance with company policies and procedures is essential, as is contributing to a cohesive operational team focused on achieving service plans and departmental goals. The position requires fostering a culture of collaboration among team members, stakeholders, and partner organizations while ensuring customers receive courteous and effective service. Additionally, conducting dynamic risk assessments, staying informed about evolving legislation and technology, and providing guidance to apprentices and trainees are key aspects of the role. Participation in the supervisor call-out rota is expected, with additional compensation for coverage. Monitoring performance quality, engaging teams in innovative service delivery, and promoting skill development through appraisals and opportunities are also integral to this position.

Candidates must possess a valid driving license and a relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience. Essential knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations is required, along with extensive supervisory experience and a background in building maintenance. Desirable qualifications include familiarity with damp remediation, roofing systems, scaffolding, and Norwich City Council's domestic stock. Additional skills in liquid applied treatments, asbestos awareness, and health and safety qualifications are advantageous. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills, while being prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel within the Norwich area and occasionally across Norfolk.
