Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Support Coordinator to join a newly formed out of hours team who will deliver an exceptional wellbeing service to our student community. The role holder will, provide a professional, out of office hours wellbeing advice and support service, to students living in residences and the local community, including the initial response to vulnerable students, concerned families and staff, and to coordinate critical situations relating to student health and wellbeing.What will you be doing?

  • Act as a first responder to out of hours residential issues and student well-being concerns to coordinate a response, triage effectively and identify further support needs. This will include students living in residences and the local community.
  • Respond to Wellbeing Access telephone calls as well as concerns raised by other services including Security, Campus Division, and external services.
  • Give advice and feedback to students, staff, and associated internal and external partners on a wide range of issues relating to the student experience that prioritises the needs of the student or enquirer.
  • Co-ordinate multi-agency responses eg other internal out of hours teams, crisis team, emergency services ensuring the welfare of the student is prioritised.
  • Support colleagues responding to non-welfare related incidents, working collaboratively with other university out of hours teams.
  • Plan and organise the out of hours service requirements throughout the academic year.
  • You should apply if You have experience of working with students or young people in an advisory/support capacity; you are First Aid and Mental Health First Aid trained or have the willingness to undergo training; you can communicate and respond confidently and professionally to students who may be expressing strong emotions with well-developed active listening skills and emotional intelligence. You are a self-starter and enjoy working as part of a team to deliver a high-quality service. The Residential Life Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will work as part of our out of hours team, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, working shifts from 8pm - 8am.
