Full Job Description

Bristol Dental School is a city centre state-of-the-art site (1 Trinity Quay, Avon Street, Bristol) delivering a new operating model and have settled ways of working since opening Summer 2023.
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic, flexible and reliable clinical dental assistant to work closely with the clinical dental team in this 119-chair clinical facility. The post holders will be guided by the lead dental nurses to assist with the day to day running of the clinical dispensaries, flow and distribution of dental instruments and clinical supplies across all clinical areas within the Dental School. The post holder will primarily be supporting the dental students in the provision of safe, high quality patient care for our patients accessing treatment at Bristol Dental School.

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the clinical team in the preparation and maintenance of the department to include, stocking of dental bays, waste management and the flushing of dental chair water lines.

  • Undertake the safe guidance of patients around the building to include welcoming them into the clinical departments and to provide chaperone support as required for patient assessment.

  • Engage with all aspects decontamination and participate in the unpacking of sterilised instruments ensuring a thorough check of sterility , date of decontamination process and packaging integrity is complete prior to dispensing to dental students.

  • Understand and comply with local rules, compliance and Health & Safety policies and help ensure compliance amongst all other users.

    Proven experience of working in a similar environment (healthcare, hospital, or dental surgery), or equivalent practical skills learned in an alternative environment

  • Positive attitude with good communication skills

  • Committed in providing a high level of internal customer service in the teaching environment

  • Ability to work effectively and proactively with the dental team and in the wider dental teaching environment

  • Full time/Part time/Job Share- Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week.

    Salary Range - Grade D £23,144 to £24,533 based on 35 hours per week- depending on experience.
