Full Job Description

Children of the 90s (also known as the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children) is a world-famous study of health and development that has been charting the lives of 14,500 families in the Bristol area since 1991.

The Communications Officer will seek to enhance the reputation of the study across a range of stakeholders, while improving participation rates. Current funding ends in July 2029 but this contract could extend beyond that date with further funding.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for creating engaging content to promote the study's research, including press releases, videos, web/social media content, plus print and email newsletters. Working as part of a small team, you will be an outstanding communicator with strong media relations and social media skills.

As someone with good writing and media relations skills, you are adept at translating complex scientific information into engaging content. You can juggle a variety of communications challenges such as video editing, web design or social media content creation, often working under pressure. Your experience may include email newsletters and print design. Some knowledge of science would also be useful to this role.
