Full Job Description

The School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies is seeking a full-time School Research Manager to plan and implement the school's research administration processes and activities. The role holder will work closely with the school's Research Director, Impact Director, and Research Committee, along with the school's Professional Services teams. The role will be based in 11 Priory road, with scope for blended working in line with the school's blended working policy.What will you be doing? The role holder will support the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies as part of a team of Professional Services staff. Key duties include:

  • Being the first point of contact for research and/or impact queries.
  • Supporting budget management.
  • Manage the school's data collection and analysis relating to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and any Impact material and any peer reviews and interim/mock exercises required by the school.
  • Reporting research activities and performance to the school's committees and leadership team.
  • Overseeing the organising of research related events.
  • Supporting the submission of research grants.
  • Line managing a team of research administrators.
  • Developing effective research networks to support continuous improvement and best practice

    You have experience of working in a research-orientated environment.
  • You have the ability to manage information and data, including budgets.
  • You have a methodical approach to work with good attention to detail.
  • You have office and administration experience in a busy, complex organisation.
  • You have the ability to work flexibly, autonomously and problem solve using initiative.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of contacts.
