Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint an exceptional strategic and operational leader to join us as the Director of Faculty Operations (DFO), in our Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. You'll hold an esteemed position in the Faculty and play a central role in shaping our strategic direction. This role is a key player in driving cultural and organisational change with an impact that extends across the entire University. You'll lead in evolving and driving delivery from all professional services in one of our three substantial Faculty units. You will have the rare chance to mold the operational structure from the ground up, utilising a combination of direct and matrix management approaches to ensure seamless efficiency and collaboration. Leading with innovation and uniting teams under one vision, the DFO will work closely with the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor to chart the strategic course of the Faculty's development. This role provides a unique platform to influence and shape the direction of our institution's growth and impact. The interviews will be held on Monday 4 November 2024.What will you be doing? A range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Lead and deliver University-wide change initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring effective implementation of new structures and practices within the Faculty.
  • Provide visionary leadership for professional services, ensuring a seamless service delivery model for staff, students, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the Faculty's strategic planning processes and offer strategic insights to the Leadership Team, monitoring progress against key performance indicators.
  • Drive major pan-institutional change programs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate with Finance and HR Business Partners to manage budgets and workforce plans, aligning with the University's objectives.
  • Play a vital role in projects across the University, supporting the effective implementation of the institutional strategy.

    Proven senior leadership in large public/private organisations, achieving results and guiding teams to success.
  • Expertise in multi-disciplinary leadership, fostering collaboration for collective goals.
  • Substantial financial management experience, driving strategic decisions and optimising resources.
