This is your chance to be part of an exciting journey, You will be at the forefront of the faculty's digital projects, collaborating to bring ideas to life through bespoke solutions that support both research and teaching projects, including software development, AI technologies, creating automation scripts, and integrating and managing leading cloud services. In this role, you'll manage and optimise the faculty's digital pilots, ensuring these projects reach their full potential. You'll also drive the adoption of DevOps practices, setting the stage for agile working practices. Your expertise will be essential in guiding our teams-helping troubleshoot challenges, boost performance, and leverage the latest technologies to push the boundaries of research and teaching. - You will shape the way that Technical Services help the faculty leverage cloud and key development technologies to empower researchers and students, enhancing their ability to innovate and collaborate on complex projects involving development, devops and sysops.
- You will work closely with leading academics and research teams, providing the technical expertise needed to develop cutting-edge solutions that support groundbreaking research and advanced teaching methodologies.
- You will play a key role in the operational delivery of cloud-based services, providing specialist support to students and researchers while also contributing to the strategic direction and creative design of technology-driven research and learning initiatives.
Cloud Technologies: Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with experience in managing and deploying cloud services, virtual machines, and storage solutions. - Coding and Scripting: Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C#, C, C++ with the ability to write and maintain automation scripts, develop custom applications, and integrate various cloud services.
- DevOps Practices: Experience with DevOps tools and methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), containerization (e.g., Docker)
- System Operations (SysOps): Solid understanding of systems administration, including managing operating systems, networking, security configurations, and performance tuning in a cloud environment.
- Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues, optimize cloud performance, and implement effective solutions.
- Continuous Learning: A proactive approach to staying updated with the latest trends in cloud computing, DevOps, and emerging technologies, with a willingness to continually improve and expand technical skills.
- Communication and Support: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, provide training, and deliver responsive support to end-users
