Full Job Description

The Education Data and Insight Team are based within Education and Student Success. We're a team delivering analysis, insight, reporting and management information that is central to the University. We work closely with subject matter experts, senior stakeholders and collaborate within the team to develop ideas into solutions that help decision making or meet operational and regulatory requirements. The post-holder will develop self-service reporting products that support processes relating to the core student and education systems.What will you be doing?

  • Join an Agile team and work in Scrum. You will fix, maintain and develop new reporting and data products, used across the university
  • Become an expert in key areas of the student records system. You will build knowledge of business processes and data relating to Student Finance, Admissions and Lifecycle.
  • Develop and document complex SQL queries. Take business requirements and use your knowledge to write queries and analyse data from the student records database (SITS) efficiently and sustainably.
  • Provide great looking, easy to use and accessible reporting products that everyone in the university can tap into.You and the team will transform raw data into impactful reports using tools such as Visual Studio and SSRS.
  • Be accountable and work as a team. Work with other report writers to peer review and maintain high standards. Engage with the wider Education Data and Insight Team to share and establish best practice.

    You've got experience working with relational databases, complex SQL queries and want to work with SSRS and Visual Studio.
  • You've experienced or are aware of how to work within the Scrum agile framework.
  • You can take ideas and develop them into requirements and solutions.
  • You are self-motivated to solve problems independently.
  • You're comfortable presenting complex, technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • You're highly organised, able to ruthlessly prioritise and can manage a number of different tasks at the same time.

  • You've worked in an education setting in a UK university previously
  • You've worked with SITS
  • You have a good understanding of the issues facing UK higher education
