If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!, We are seeking a dynamic Specialist Technician (Teaching) to join our Engineering Faculty. As part of our Faculty Teaching and Development team, you will play a key role in supporting project-based learning by helping Undergraduate students develop their technical skills and encouraging innovative teaching practices. In this role, you will manage the daily operations of our rapid prototyping lab, the Hackspace, providing front-line support to facilitate creative practice and offering specialist technical assistance. You will collaborate with academics to enhance the student experience, oversee lab resources and budgets, and contribute to the development of learning content. Additionally, you'll engage with both students and faculty, playing a central role in departmental activities while staying at the forefront of advancements in makerspace technology.,

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities in the Hackspace, supporting both digital and physical manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee health and safety protocols, maintain equipment, and support the lab's operational development.
  • Service and run equipment, while coordinating new opportunities and hosting events.
  • Provide facilities that support project work and extracurricular activities.
  • Exercise initiative and pragmatism to bring ambitious student projects to life.
  • Deliver specialist support to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students.

    Self-motivated and innovative, with experience managing a practical space and working with a team of specialists.
  • Eager to help develop the next generation of engineers.
  • Experienced in financial planning and budget monitoring.
  • Technically proficient in an engineering or scientific discipline, with demonstrated expertise.
  • Skilled in driving continuous improvement in both self and others.
