Full Job Description

The role of the Supplier Development Leader (SDL) is to deliver improvements in the supply chain quality performance for the HPC & SZC projects. The primary responsibility of the SDL is to respond to requests for supplier development support by completing a supplier quality delivery charter, developing a supplier quality improvement plan as required, and coordinating the improvement through to completion. Role Responsibilities:

  • To lead structured problem resolution activities at key strategic suppliers.
  • Train and coach suppliers in structured problem resolution methodology
  • To facilitate Supplier Quality Improvement workshops.
  • Build relationships with supplier leadership teams to influence improvement activities within the supplier and to promote continuous improvement.
  • Collect and analyse data and information on allocated suppliers' performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Share learning & good practices across the supply chain.
  • To review supplier development requests and create a Supplier Quality Delivery Charter to define the problem, outline the method to be adopted, bound the scope, and identify resources and milestones to enable a successful delivery of the improvement.
  • To deliver the quality improvement activity within the agreed timescales and budget.
  • Conduct an effectiveness review to confirm that a demonstrable improvement has been achieved and recommend any further improvements.
  • Leadership experience managing multi disciplined teams (MDTs).
  • Business improvement practitioner with a proven track record of delivering supplier development projects in a manufacturing operational environment.

    Qualification in an Engineering discipline, Degree/ HNC / HND, (or lower if combined with experience).
  • Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of internal & external stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset with a sound knowledge of improvement techniques including 8D, PDCA, root cause analysis (RCA), Kaizen events and process mapping.
  • The ability to influence and to provide constructive challenge which is accepted by others.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to support and implement practical solutions, whilst remaining open to the ideas of others.
