Full Job Description

The Supplier Manager will work as part of a small team, managing supplier contracts and performing surveillance activities on supplier manufacturing routes and processes. The suppliers involved provide materials and components required for the manufacture of AGR fuel assemblies including fuel elements and stringer components. The products are mainly manufactured from proprietary grades of stainless steel which are manufactured into reactor components using routine machining, forging and fabrication techniques. Travel throughout the UK and mainland Europe is a requirement of the role. (min 1 day in a week),

  • Management of supplier contracts
  • Compliance surveillance at suppliers place of work
  • Supplier corrective action reporting and management
  • Monitoring of production routes
  • Monitoring and management of supplier performance
  • Management of Engineering Change at suppliers
  • Monitoring, reporting and management of risk
  • Budget monitoring and reporting as required
  • Supplier auditing to ISO 9001
  • Inventory management at suppliers

    Broad engineering knowledge of manufacturing techniques
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Good interpersonal skills (the role requires independent interaction with suppliers)
  • Analytical problem solving skills
  • IT literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work flexibly (outside of core hours) to meet the travel requirements of the role
  • Full driving license & Passport required
  • Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge of basic stainless steel metallurgy
  • Stainless Steel Weld Inspection experience (resistance & TIG)
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • First Principle Metrology Skills
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control
  • Working knowledge of Engineering drawings and Geometric Tolerancing
