An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Breast Screening Office Manager to join our multi-disciplinary team at Avon Breast Screening Unit, Bristol Breast Care Centre.
Avon Breast Screening is the largest breast screening programme in the South West, inviting over 60,000 women every year for breast screening. It is one of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programmes (NHSBSP) aiming to save lives through early detection of breast cancer.
This role is manage the administrative element of the breast screening programme for this population, in line with NHSBSP guidance, ensuring sufficient staffing levels to provide and maintain an efficient, effective, high-quality service.
To undertake the role of System manager for the NBSS Computer System and to be personally responsible for its operation and password control and security.
To plan, in conjunction with the Director of Screening, and Programme Manager, the future developments of Breast Screening Services.
To work with the programme manager to enable effective administration management. Appraising on programme progress, and obtaining advice and support as appropriate. To build a leadership relationship with the administration and clerical team to enable an efficient service.
To ensure that an appropriate office administration system is implemented in order that maximum efficiency and smooth flow of clients, films and documentation, is maintained and that the client is informed of Mammography results as soon as practically possible, within national agreed targets. To advise, provide and co-ordinate the Breast Screening Service, ensuring that a three year screening plan is devised and followed, and that the movement of each mobile unit is carefully planned to ensure that the 36 months Round Length target is be responsible for the smooth running of the high risk programme.
To fully participate in the planning arrangements for Breast Screening in association with the Director of Screening, Superintendent Radiographer and Programme Manager by agreeing work targets, setting objectives and ensuring that performance is monitored and recorded.
North Bristol NHS Trust is commissioned by NHS England to deliver the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme to the eligible population of BNSSG. We are the largest breast screening programme in the South West with an eligible population of 180,000 invited for screening every three years. We are a large MDT team of over 50 clinical and non-clinical staff including administrative staff , radiographers, radiologists and breast clinical nurse specialists. We are based at Bristol Breast Care Centre, Southmead Hospital, with a static screening site in the centre of Bristol and three mobile screening units that cover the BNSSG area.
The post holderis responsible forco-coordinatingappointments/RTTplanning for theBreastScreeningService and supporting with rota co-ordination of clinical teams. (This includes the administration ofmedirota). You will alsobe responsible fortheday-to-dayco-ordinationofthe screening admin team.
This post will be key in ensuring the efficient working of the department inmaintainingclinics foroutpatients. This in turn will ensure the department meets the Government targets in terms ofwomen receivinga timelyinvitation for routine breast screening, recall for assessment and the onwardRTT.
In having responsibility for co-coordinating the clinical planning of the department the individual must have excellent communication skills in liaising with clinicians and in dealing with operational issues andday to daycomplaints that arise. The ideal post holder will be intelligent,hard-workingand able to deal with pressure, as well as having an acute attention to detail and effectiveproblem-solvingskills.
The post holder will alsobe responsible foraccurately recordingthe annual and study leave requests of the clinical teamson the National Breast Screening System (NBSS)and ensuring cover provided where possible.
The post holder will have responsibility for theday-to-dayco-ordinationof the screening admin team, ensuring efficient working practices are in place in order that all administration for the service is managed within the timescales and governance set by the National Health Service Breast ScreeningProgramme. The post holder will also manage their annual leave entitlements and requests.
