Full Job Description
The post holder is required to support the Medical Secretary Team Leader in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team. This will involve inpatient waiting list management for a specialty, in accordance with the Patient Access Policy, communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and carers and typing correspondence and/or transcribing and typing up of minutes as appropriate., The post holder will take direction from the Medical Secretary Team Leader and Operational Services Manager for the day to day running of the service. The post holder will have work delegated to them by the Medical Secretary Team Leader and will be responsible for their own time management and will prioritise own workload ensuring that clinical letters are accurately typed in chronological order/clinical priority. The post holder will need to be able to work well under pressure and concentrate in a busy work environment.
Will be required to support the Medical Secretary Team Leader and specialty team in the delivery of inpatient waiting list management, taking into account application of national RTT rules and to assist in the appropriate utilisation of theatres.
Will be responsible for sorting and distributing incoming/outgoing information in a timely manner and ensuring that patients notes are requested and provided in a timely manner. The post holder will liaise with the medical team and appointments department to arrange, cancel or alter clinical commitments to contribute to the smooth running of the department
Will be responsible for communicating information, both written and verbal, with patients, staff and carers requiring tact and diplomacy. The post holder will also be responsible for handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement and acquired knowledge to assess each situation and to deal with accordingly., The post holder is required to support the Medical Secretary Team Leader in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team. Working at County Hospital site may also be required at times.
