Full Job Description

Days & Hours: The hours will be shared by more than one support worker. Day shifts: Monday-Thursday 9.15am-5.15pm and Fridays 9.15am-1.15pm. Evenings: Monday-Friday 6.30pm-11.30pm. Sleeping nights and occasional Saturdays are on a very ad-hoc basis and arranged with the family in advance., Introducing D
We are seeking a patient, caring and alert Support Worker to support D, born in 2009, he lives with his parents and has wider family close by who are very important to him. He enjoys swimming and going for car journeys, he has a very good road knowledge, he also has a Cineworld pass and likes to go there regularly as a family, he enjoys going to the gym and has a good relationship with the staff there and has built up his own Spotify playlist to accompany him. He would like to go to theme parks and enjoys the big rollercoasters.
D acquired a brain injury shortly after birth and as a result has Cerebral Palsy affecting all 4 limbs. He has a diagnosis of Autism and Asthma and has regular medication for this. He attends a weekly sensory session. He is supported by a Case Manager, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and one other Support Worker. D can mobilise independently around the home but can be prone to tripping over objects and his own feet. He has an electric wheelchair for when he is out in the community and uses a standing frame for 1 hour each day at home.

Your role as a Support Worker, will be to support D with daily living, education and increasing his independence. He requires assistance with dressing but can feed himself independently. During the day he is dry but requires a pad for night-times. You will be working alongside his support worker who has been with the family for 4 years.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special young man. Pay and Benefits:

  • Monday to Friday days £15.50, Weekend days £16.50 Monday to Thursday sleeping nights £10.50 & Friday to Sunday sleeping night £10.75

  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

  • Pension (subject to qualifying status)

  • If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client. However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role. Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.

  • It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.

  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Asthma

  • Confident and comfortable working in D's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family
