Full Job Description

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing personalised support to a gentleman with epilepsy, autism, learning disabilities, and dysphagia. You will work at the community centre on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM to 3 PM, utilising the resources available at Camp Hill, including a farm and various on-site activities. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Daily Activities: Engage him in activities such as fruit and vegetable picking, arts and crafts, baking, and decorating biscuits. Your role will involve encouraging participation while being sensitive to his comfort levels, as he may not always join group sessions.
  • Personal Care Assistance: While personal care is not a primary focus during your shift (as bathing and dressing occur prior to arrival), you will provide essential prompting and support for toileting needs.
  • Meal Preparation and Feeding Support: You will assist with meal prep, following dietary guidelines specific to dysphagia. This includes preparing meals, often involving him in the process-typically making his favourite pizza!
  • Medication Administration: While there is no routine medication administration required, you must be prepared to follow protocols for emergency epilepsy medication as needed.
  • Promoting Family Connections: We recognise the importance of maintaining relationships with family and friends. You will collaborate closely with his mother, who is actively involved in his support. Your role may involve providing updates and facilitating communication.
