Full Job Description

Your primary responsibility will be supporting a gentleman with autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). This means that, at times, he might need a bit of extra encouragement to engage in day-to-day activities. He also faces challenges with fine motor skills, so tasks like cooking and using cutlery can be tricky for him. That's where you come in, helping him enjoy his meals, explore new things, and maintain a healthy and balanced routine.,

  • Personalised Support: Helping him with hobbies he loves - whether it's visiting railway museums, exploring theme parks, or grabbing a coffee at his favourite spot. His interests are wide-ranging, from trains and coffee to the magic of Disney and theatre shows. Be prepared for some exciting outings!
  • Meal Preparation: Preparing tasty meals. You'll be chopping up food into small, manageable pieces and encouraging him to try new dishes.
  • Encouraging Self-Care: Assisting with personal care, primarily helping him wash his hair. He's independent with other aspects of personal care but may need a gentle encouragement now and then.
  • Engagement and Motivation: Motivating him to maintain his home and break away from his favourite YouTube videos! Creativity is key here - finding ways to spark his interest and keep him engaged in a variety of interests.
  • Relationship Building: You'll be working closely with his family, who are actively involved and often pop in to visit. Building a positive, trusting relationship with them is an essential part of the role.

Are you someone who enjoys variety, creativity, and meaningful work? We're looking for a Support Worker to join our team and work with a fun-loving gentleman in his 30s who lives independently in his own home. If you're compassionate, enjoy a good challenge, and have a knack for motivating others, this might be the perfect role for you!, Driver's License & Business Insurance: You'll need your own car with business insurance to transport him on outings.
