Full Job Description

The post holder will assist in the assessment and supportive interventions for young people who are assessed as needing a tier 4 service for meal support. The post holder will work across services including Eating Disorder Team, The Home Treatment Team and Forest House Adolescent Unit. The young person will be assessed as to whether they can be safely managed in their own home with intensive input, as part of their care plan, or in some cases may require inpatient admission. Working alongside care coordinators, the post holder will provide clinical interventions such as meal support, cognitive remediation therapy, emotional enhancement therapy, body image work, emotional regulation work and anxiety work., The Support Worker role at this level, will be allocated and agreed via plans of care, assessed and evaluated by a registered nurse. They will implement, deliver care under the guidance of registered practitioners supported by a monitored process of on-going supervision and support. This role will be expected to work with on-going levels of support and supervision as determined via a monitored supervisory process and supported by educational development. The expectation to adherence to agreed instruction, whilst being guided and supported within Trust procedures and policies. As part of the wider Team the post holder will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care/services to patients including managing their own caseload of low risk eating disorder patients and those suffering with Binge Eating Disorder as part of The CYP Eating Disorders Team, working under the direct supervision of a registered member of staff. This will involve being responsible for carrying out practical tasks, identified as part of the patient's care plan or care pathways including meal support, body image work and supporting patient's to manage anxiety. The post holder will provide supportive care management and work with a supervisor allocated to a group of service users as delegated by the Team Manager or registered practitioner. The post holder will be expected to work in a community setting including service user homes and schools. The post holder will receive clinical supervision as appropriate and partake in reflective practice/training on a regular basis.

  • NVQ level 3 or a MH Certificate of equivalent qualification. Evidence of additional relevant mental health training e.g. eating disorders
  • Experience of working with people with mental health problems in either an acute or community setting with an Eating Disorder

    The CYP Eating Disorders Team is an award winning, recovery focused, multidisciplinary community team working with under 18's with Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder.
