Full Job Description

NeuroSupport services are currently recruiting Support Workers and Healthcare Assistants with a background of Brain Injury and Mental health experience to support services users with an acquired Brain Injury. Our service aims to support rehabilitation and in enabling people to optimise independence and quality of life. We are looking for psychology graduates,support Workers and Healthcare Assistants or suitable candidates who would be willing to support people both within their home environment and also willing to provide support in helping service users access the community. We are looking for candidates that are confident with working independently and providing empirical feedback where necessary., Our client is an incredibly pleasant and friendly man, who is very easy going, and has a good sense of humour. He enjoys going out to play poker 5 times a week, in the evenings, but other than that is really isolated, and spends most of the time at home. He does have a lodger now who is a friend, and so this helps with some of the boredom, but he is eager to meet a life partner and wants to get out more during the day. The client requires someone to support him with domestic tasks and also with other tasks, as directed by the case manager, such as: - Supporting the client with access his community, such as a gym, setting up voluntary work, accessing a suitable college course - Changing TJ's bed linen weekly - Doing TJ's ironing - Occasional cleaning He does not require any personal care and, other than the above, he is relatively independent. He also requires ad hoc support in relation to his vulnerability and susceptibility to financial abuse. The client has a Traumatic Brain Injury as a result of an road traffic accident a number of years ago. As a result of this, he has some mobility difficulties, and he struggles with his memory. It would be good for the rehab assistant to have some experience of working with people with a TBI and who are vulnerable.

  • EXPERIENCE IN BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT, Preferable support or therapy assistant, with experience of working with people who have ABI (Brain Injury). Someone with knowledge of OT, and experience completing exercises and working towards achieving set goals would be ideal., Gain Experience working with an MDT, A genuine desire to make a positive difference to the lives of others with the ability to promote well-being through positive attitude and work practices

  • Excellent punctuality, reliability and a strong desire to accomplish goals and objectives

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills
  • Have basic computer skills (Word, Outlook & Excel)
  • Have at least six months experience of working in a support worker role or similar, in the past three years.
  • Must have a Full UK Driving License and access to your own car
  • Have Experience in the field of Psychology
  • Willing to become self-employed
