Full Job Description
We are looking for caring and passionate individuals to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living services in Caerphilly borough, Ystrad Mynach. We have a 30 hour, part time, permanent position available. The shift patterns can vary from 7am-3pm / 2.30pm-9pm / 10.30am-9pm / 9.30a.m. - 2.30 p.m.2.30pm-11pm sleep-in then following shift 7am-2.30pm. Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service the post holder for this role is required to be female. Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service, a full UK manual driving licence is required. If you would like the opportunity to work with some truly amazing people please read on….., This service is the home of 4 loving and social individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with these incredible individuals to support with day to day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support The service promotes the importance of the "do with and not do for" approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals. The individuals we support have different personalities with different likes and hobbies. You could be joining the people we support in going on long walks in the countryside, dancing to music, watching films, and going out and about in the community or to visit loved ones. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first-hand how you make a difference to them. You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
- Medication administration
- Cooking skills and other household skills
- Some personal care needs
- Accessing the community and supporting to local groups
- Supporting with individuals' hobbies and activities such as walking/hiking
- Being a team player and having good communication skills
- Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard
- Supporting individuals to budget finances
- Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing
- Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence
- Take the people we support out and about therefore a full manual driving licence is essential for this role
- Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties
- Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working
- Supporting Individuals with their individual needs
A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are; - A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible

- A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
