Full Job Description

This is the perfect job for you if you like the buzz of a supporting many supported housing services. This is a fast-paced environment and very reactive. You'll be jumping into action with your experience and expertise, supporting our services who need us the most. This is mostly supporting perm / bank colleagues when they are working services. They will contact the out of hours service via telephone. You will only support customers in services if a temp shift cover is needed from the out of hours team. This is prominently an office based role. Day in the life of a support worker

  • You will work across the 'hotspot' evenings, nights and weekends. Days may vary from week to week and will work on a rota basis.
  • You will have a reactive role and no two shifts will be the same. This role will have variety.
  • You will support via the telephone anything from staff unable to attend their shift (and sourcing temp cover), responding to repairs, health and safety incidents, emergency bed move-ins, and even responding to customer safeguarding alerts.
  • From Northumberland to central Newcastle, you will have sound working knowledge of our services and how to find the best resolution in line with policies and procedures

  • You will work from the Tyneside Foyer on Westgate Road with other out of hours service colleagues.
  • Most of your shift will be answering calls from our colleagues in supported housing services and compiling reports to share with service managers.
  • There may be a requirement to cover a shift within one of our North East services. This will be either support worker or concierge.
  • Able to use technology for essential paperwork / key tasks.
  • Full training will be provided. You will have the teams full support.
  • To get from A to B, having a vehicle insured for business purposes is desirable. The great news is that we'll pay your mileage if you need to attend services!
  • You'll need an Enhanced Adults and Children DBS check done and we pay for that.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have proven skills and competence with support work and concierge.
  • Brilliant behaviours and thrive in a reactive role.
  • Can jump into action and cover a shift in service when required.
  • Strong teamwork and having sound decision making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (as the majority of your work will be via the telephone).
  • Excel in written communication skills - writing reports is a large part of the role.
