Full Job Description

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people's lives. About the Team and job role. The aim of the Supported Living Service is to provide support for adults with learning disabilities and or autism who wish to live independently in the Bath and Northeast Somerset area. Your main place of work will be in the community, working in service users homes. The Supported Living Service does have offices based at Carrswood Day Services in Twerton Bath and Connections Day Services in Writhlington Radstock., We are looking for a support worker to be based in one of our Connections Location on a full-time basis on a permanent contract. This role is for 37 hrs hours per week (one post available) and involves a rota system which includes working every other weekend with some bank holidays for which enhancements are paid. SERVICE OBJECTIVES

  • To enable service users to live as independently as possible in their own homes.
  • To support service users to carry out everyday tasks involved in maintaining a tenancy and according to their preferred lifestyle.
  • If needed, to support service users with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner
  • To support service users to exercise as much choice as possible over all aspects of their daily life.
  • To enable service users to take part in their local community and make relationships with people within their community.
  • To support service users to be good citizens.
  • To safeguard and protect the rights of all service users in line with the requirements of the Human Rights Act.
  • To enable service users to express their opinions, wants and wishes and for them to be acted on as appropriate.
  • To ensure that the service is always person centred.
  • To provide appropriate information, advice and support to parents and carers as required.
  • To work alongside colleagues in other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for service users.
  • To maintain a well-trained workforce who can work together to meet the individual needs of the service users.
  • To work towards withdrawing support as service users gain confidence and learn new skills.
  • To be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the service users.
