Full Job Description

The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a young boy (6) with autism. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support him with all his needs. The child is very active and can be impulsive. The candidate must be able to work on our initiative, have quick reactions and be fit and healthy in order to keep up with the child.,

  • Personal care e.g., dressing, supervising when toileting.
  • Constant supervision is always required.
  • Support with all safety aspects.
  • To be a social friendly companion to the child
  • To support with sensory play and active play such as riding bikes, going for walks, playing in the garden and keeping busy.
  • You will be required to keep him entertained in the home and outside.
  • The child is very active, the candidate must be fit and be able to keep up with the child. Must work on own initiative and have quick reactions.
  • To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys.
  • To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

    Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
  • Experience with caring for children is essential
  • Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
  • You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • You should have knowledge and understanding of risks.
  • Must be able to speak and write fluent English to possibly help or assist with education.
  • Be patient and supportive.

    Hours: Variable working hours. School holidays are a must and occasional hours within term time
  • Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.00
