Support Workers for Mike

With Mike, work doesn't need to feel like work. One day you might be pottering around the garden sowing seeds, the next you might be off looking for pirate treasures and bottles washed up onshore.

Mike has a good sense of humour and enjoys laughing and chatting with his team. Mike's hobbies include playing computer games, listening to a variety of music, treasure hunting, gardening, metal detecting, and watching 80's cartoons, especially ThunderCats. Mike has 2 cats and some fish which his team support him to look after so liking animals is essential.

Mike is autistic with a learning disability and needs support in understanding the 'why' and the 'how', but the team are there to find creative and unique ways of helping his understanding such as creating a bespoke newspaper that has helped Mike develop, think more about his health, and try new things.

We are looking for someone who is keen to learn and develop so that Mike lives a fulfilled life, and you feel proud to be part of it. Shifts are typically 9am to 9pm and the rota is done in advance to help accommodate a good work/life fit. There is an in-depth team induction to support you into the role.

The team are working towards being self-directed so an element of leadership will be required as there won't be the traditional hierarchy normally seen in a team. That doesn't mean there are no development opportunities. We want everyone in the team to develop and to enjoy supporting Mike and being part of the organisation.
