Full Job Description
Supporting the Associate Director of Patient and Carer Experience in conceptualising, developing and delivering Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives across all areas of the organisation in relation to both staff members and people accessing services. Contribute to the development / review of the Trust's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) objectives, ensuring compliance with the requirements of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion duties in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and associated standards in order to meet contract compliance requirements, CQC standards and in accordance with best practice., Ensure that the Trust's Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) frameworks meet legal requirements and support its equality goals and reporting, including the Equality Act 2010, Equality Delivery System 2 (EDS2), Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES), Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES), and others from NHS England. Lead the development and implementation of the EDI agenda, advising the Trust Board and management. Drive initiatives to improve the Trust's capacity to meet the needs of its diverse staff and communities, raising awareness of EDI laws and best practices. Recommend actions to the Board, address risks, and develop initiatives to attract and retain diverse talent while promoting a culture of dignity and respect. Build strong relationships with external agencies and communities, sharing best practices, and involving the community in improving service experiences for diverse groups.Working for our organisation CWP provides health and care services for local people, including mental health, learning disability, community physical health and all-age disability care - including the provision of three GP surgeries. - Highly expert specialist knowledge of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and related topics, acquired through masters level degree or professional HR qualification / equivalent relevant experience
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Desirable criteria
- Expertise within an NHS environment, Detailed and in depth knowledge and understanding of EDI theory and application, legislation, policy and best practice
- Detailed appreciation of EDI legislation supported by theory and experience
- Up to date and in depth knowledge and understanding of EDI issues within a complex public sector organisation and within external partner organisations
- Extensive understanding of equality legislation and its impact on employment practice
- Expert working knowledge of EDS2
- In depth understanding of barriers to EDI and strategies to overcome them Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of EDI programmes within the NHS
- Knowledge in relation to EDI, Human Rights and related legislation, national policies and guidance, Experience of working at both an operational and a strategic level to bring about significant change and transformation
- Practical, direct experience of implementing EDI polices and initiatives within a public sector organisation
- Experience of having built strong and effective relationships, internally and externally, with diverse colleagues and communities
- Highly developed people skills with sound credibility with senior leaders
- Significant experience of working in a similar EDI role, influencing Trust Board and Executive and Senior Management Teams to change practice and challenge existing processes to benefit people covered by protected characteristics.
- Significant experience of interpreting national policy, developing and implementing strategies, plans, policies, interventions and processes in line with legislation, national policy and delivering corporate objectives
- Experience of implementing EDI initiatives, including frameworks and standards
- Experience of developing and delivering training to wide, diverse audiences on EDI and the Equality Delivery System 2
- Experience of advising on People Services processes and practices from the point of view of promoting best practice for all people and in particular those covered by protected characteristics
- Experience of workforce equality with knowledge of standards such as WRES and WDES
- Experience of representing the organisation at regional and national events.
- Experience of conducting and advising on Equality Impact Analysis (EIAs) Desirable criteria
- Significant experience of working within an NHS Trust or other complex organisation.
- Project management experience
- Experience of working in partnership with local communities and community organisations on equality, diversity and inclusion issues
