Full Job Description

Working as part of the Cancer Services Team, the main duties of the Cancer Appointments Clerk will be to ensure that all referrals to be managed are given an appointment with the appropriate specialist within 14 days (two weeks) of the agreed referral date.

You will be expected to manage the appointment slots available, working closely with consultants, secretaries and staff from the Trust's Appointment Offices, following the Trust's agreed process for highlighting potential breaches of the two week target.

This comprises continued, full and accurate validation of all referrals being actively managed against the two week target.

Main duties of the job

Day to day tasks in this role include receiving referrals, monitoring referral numbers and escalating to the relevant specialist managers if there are any capacity issues in clinics.

This will require a competent use of IT systems for booking in patients, a polite phone manner to handle patient queries and strong problem-solving skills to resolve any issues that may arise.

The Trust must carefully monitor its performance against the cancer targets and you must work closely with the Team Leader and the Cancer Data Managers to facilitate performance monitoring of the two week target. T

his will also require attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure accurate and timely data inputting is completed.
