Full Job Description

Cheshire West and Chester is looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join the Transport and Infrastructure team. The post holder will support the Senior Road Safety Officer in delivering our road safety programme to schools, colleges, residents and businesses. This involves organising and delivering presentations and events, developing and using resource materials, and maintaining and analysing data records for effective evaluation of our projects. The role also supports sustainable travel delivery, primarily the promotion of our active travel programmes and projects such as highway scheme public engagement, delivery of school streets and encouraging uptake of Modeshift STARS. Support and training will be provided.

The successful candidate will join the Council at an exciting time, making a meaningful contribution to the borough's transport provision, implementation plans and policies, supporting the delivery of a cohesive transport network that supports active and sustainable travel initiatives aligned to the Council's emerging Local Transport Plan, Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan and the wider Climate and Poverty declarations.

The successful candidate will be able to evidence effective presentation skills to a variety of audiences and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an understanding of the critical role of transport in underpinning accessibility, sustainability, health and wellbeing, climate change and air quality for our residents, businesses and visitors. You must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, able to represent the service/council to a variety of internal and external audiences.

Hybrid workers spend the majority of their time on site or in client visits. They will work in a specified Council office between site visits, and may also work from home on an occasional or more frequent basis.

For the purpose of the role, it is desirable that the jobholder holds a full clean driving licence.
