Full Job Description

Nando's is on a journey to Create Lasting Happiness, making a difference to the lives of our people, our customers, and the communities we work in. Originally started in Johannesburg, South Africa, we pride ourselves on creating memorable experiences for everyone involved in Nando's: from our employees, communities, founders, and suppliers, but most importantly, our customers. This role will join an established Sustainability Team and is crucial in driving sustainability in the business. Rather than just report on progress, the role has an opportunity to drive progress on carbon reduction, actively manage our offsetting partnerships in Southern Africa, and be instrumental in delivering on our reporting, liaising with stakeholders across the business as well as external consultancies to provide analysis, celebrate success and advise on how to meet our overall reduction targets. A day in the life...

  • Keep us on track: You will be responsible for managing our carbon transition plan, working with internal stakeholders and external consultancies to track progress, get buy-in for reduction projects and resubmitting our Science Based Target in due course.
  • Report on progress: Lead the company's sustainability reporting efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting in accordance with SECR, ESOS, TCFD, end of year reports and other relevant reporting frameworks.
  • Manage our partnerships: Manage our carbon offset projects and pipeline, managing the budget and reporting from partners as well as developing projects to support a removal pathway in Southern Africa.
  • Be a storyteller: Help inspire Nandocas and customers to feel part of the change, not just in sustainability but our wider changing lives purpose
  • Shaping the future: Monitor and keep the business advised on upcoming sustainability trends and reporting changes suggesting ways forward for the UK and other markets
  • Be a team player: Support the Head of Sustainability in developing strategy and additional projects as required and work cross-functionally to share insights and support projects across Scope 1, 2 and 3.

3-5 years+ experience in data, analysis and reporting in sustainability
  • Passionate about helping to understand 'why', with analytical expertise, across large/multiple data sets and an ability to problem solve
  • Have a natural style that brings sustainability to life with confidence and strong story telling skills that influences and inspires change within Nando's from Board level to restaurant teams
  • Experience in managing external partners and ability to build trusted relationships
  • Experience in reporting and/or internal communications
  • Open-minded & collaborative, with sound judgment and a creative edge
  • Able to manage own time, project manage in a matrix style and operate without close supervision
  • Even better if you have existing experience with carbon offset projects

25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Free Nando's when you're working (and 40% discount when you're not)
  • Annual team trips, AKA a free holiday
  • Reward membership scheme and access to great discounts
  • Private healthcare
  • This is an 18 month maternity cover contract and requires you to be in our Putney office 3 times a week.
