Full Job Description

Would you like to collaborate with a team of forward-thinking experts, committed to Net Zero? As Sustainability Technical Lead you'll work with both internal and external stakeholders to exert influence and leadership in the development and implementation of sustainability and net-zero strategies that add value and resilience to our Electricity Transmission (ET) business whilst enhancing its reputation. You'll develop a wider sustainability strategy that reduces our overall impact on the environment whilst delivering tangible business benefits that support the business and supply chain in delivering this strategy. You'll provide overall support to the ET business in achieving its environment commitments and contributions to our group net-zero goals.,

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to develop, communicate and implement ET's Sustainability Strategy, supporting the ET business in delivering it's environmental commitments.
  • Work with Regulation to develop our plans for a more sustainable network and in particular, respond to Ofgem's request for additional information in support of our proposals.
  • Develop formats for the presentation and communication of sustainability performance at departmental and ET Executive.
  • Manage ad hoc projects to support the implementation of the strategy and delivery of our commitments, supporting the development of business cases for low carbon and energy efficiency investment.
  • Provide direction and coordination on sustainability across all construction activities, focusing on net-zero construction, net-gain and waste reduction.
  • Work with the ET communications team to develop key messages which summarise the aspirations of the ET President, providing regular updates.
  • Analyse departmental and corporate performance data to inform ETs sustainability strategy.
  • Report ET GHG emissions and support the development of ET GHG emissions reduction strategies to contribute to group net-zero targets.
  • Monitor the external environment to identify industry developments and Government policy changes.

    With relevant industry experience and an appreciation of ET's business operations and environmental policies, you'll have a drive and enthusiasm for continuous improvement, coupled with experience of change management.
  • You'll have worked with senior leadership and Executive teams and have experience of working with and leading cross-functional teams to successfully deliver business objectives. Adept at liaising and influencing with external stakeholders, Government bodies and Industry or community groups, you'll have experience of maintaining governance frameworks and benefits tracking. The following technical knowledge would be advantageous, but not essential:
  • Measurement and reporting of Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Carbon pricing and natural capital evaluation.
  • Climate Change mitigation and adaptation activities.
  • Development of business cases.
  • Environmental management systems.
  • Knowledge of climate change, sustainability and environmental legislation, risks and obligations.
  • A full Driving Licence is essential.

    Salary range - £60,000 - £70,000 depending on skills and experience
  • An annual performance bonus of up to 15% of your eligible earnings in the performance year
  • 37-hour week, with Hybrid working model between Home and Office
