Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious individual who has an interest in Active and Sustainable Travel to work within a large and multi-faceted team to drive forward the council's sustainable travel agenda, which includes the vision for Leicestershire to become a county where walking and cycling are safe, accessible and obvious choices for short journeys, and a natural part of longer journeys, helping to deliver healthier, greener communities. The work of the team includes the promotion of cycling, walking, wheeling, car-sharing and public transport, the management of the council's supported passenger transport network and the council's extensive Public Rights of Way network., We are looking to recruit 2 full time Sustainable Travel Officers to facilitate the delivery of both local and national strategies and targets, working with a range of internal and external partners to develop, deliver and support a range of promotional schemes and projects across the county under the Choose How You Move brand. As well as delivering projects the role will require the organisation and running of various events such as Travel Clinics, National Campaigns, and school events. As well as working independently, you will also be working to support colleagues within the team.

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject area Or demonstrable work experience in a public focused business
  • Have experience in partnership working, including with schools, business, communities, and external organisations
  • Have experience in developing and maintaining promotions and materials, including web-based media.
  • Problem solving, and collecting, collating, and manipulating statistical information/data
  • Good written and verbal communication skills demonstrating tact, assertiveness and diplomacy
  • A customer focused approach where the customer experience is central to the delivery of the service
  • Good numerical and analysis skills, and attention to detail
  • You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion. In addition, we also expect you to share and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
