Full Job Description

The post holder will be required to follow both Trust and Departmental Policy and guidelines in the course of their work and will implement IT / Telephony policy in addition to participating in the development of Departmental policies. Creating and updating departmental procedures. The post holder should identify and propose any changes required in working practices and documentation due to changes to equipment, standards or in order to improve service levels.,

  • Day to day supervision of Switchboard Operators
  • Provision of training to end users either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
  • Provision of training in specialist areas to Switchboard Operators
  • The post holder would be expected to work under their own initiative where their work is managed rather than supervised, using their knowledge and experience when troubleshooting.
  • The post holder should follow departmental guidelines in the course of their work and refer to their peers or manager in situations where no guidance exists.
  • Provides non clinical, general advice to patients, relatives and the public
  • Ensures that appropriate Trust emergency procedures are carried out i.e. cardiac arrest, fire, intruder alarms etc
  • Plan and organise staff rotas etc to accommodate established guidelines.
  • Prioritisation of work requests from the helpdesk
  • Some work will be project based and will need to be factored into the post holder's workload above to ensure that service levels are still met.
  • A flexible approach to working hours is required as often work needs to be completed outside of normal hours in order to support Switchboard Operators
