Full Job Description

As a System Network Administrator, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be part of a wider team where you will be supporting and enhance our customers' defence and security capabilities and critical assets, meeting their requirements of value for money, increased availability, modernisation and flexibility. Day-to-day, you'll provide system and network support to our customers in multiple international and UK Babcock and Ministry of Defence locations.

  • Providing Network and System Administrator (N&SA) duties to the projects.
  • Assisting Tactical Communications Project Managers and System Engineers in the execution of their duties.
  • Provision of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) knowledge, skills and experience to support Tactical Communications and the wider Mission Systems business.
  • This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with working days onsite and working days working from home. You will be required to attend UK sites as programme demands (for example, 2 weeks home working then site based for 4-8 weeks, with weekend travel).

  • Microsoft: Windows Server 2016 & Windows 10, Active Directory, Group Polices, Certificate Authority, Windows Server Update Services
  • vSphere with Elastic Sky X (ESXI) hypervisors and vCenter
  • Experienced in Network Security including Palo Alto Networks, Trellix ePolicy orchestrator and Safenet - eToken, SAM smartcard management
  • Experience in Networking Management including Cisco - Routing and Switching, Splunk - Splunk Fundamentals and NetApp - Netapp 9 Storage Essentials
  • You will also have diagnostic ability to fault find in network systems including experience of using WireShark and system logs to identify root causes. In-depth training of the relevant Ground-Based Air Defence (GBAD) system elements will be provided
  • Qualifications for the System Network Administrator
  • You will hold a degree qualification in a relevant computing field or provide evidence that you hold relevant experience in the network administration domain is to a similar high standard
  • Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
