We are seeking skilled Electrical/ Power System Engineers to manage real-time transmission system activities across specific UK regions in England, Scotland, and Wales. In this dynamic role as a System Operations Control Engineer, you'll maintain high operational standards and respond quickly to incidents or faults, all while collaborating with our valued customers. This position offers exciting opportunities for career growth. You can advance as a technical lead in your area of expertise or move into more senior roles, both within the control room and across other areas of the organisation. Benefit from the high-quality training we provide to our staff, equipping you to handle complex challenges effectively. If you're ready to take your career to the next level in electrical engineering, we want to hear from you! This role is based in Wokingham, and will involve 24/7, 365 days a year shift pattern for which you will receive a shift allowance.,

- Coordinate with external Network Operators and Users.
- Coordinate system access for outages and maintenance.
- Respond to system events and implement restoration actions.
- Manage workload within your geographical area, including delegation to others., In Autumn of 2024, the ESO transitioned to National Energy System Operator, or NESO for short. Previously denoted as the Future System Operator (or FSO), the new National Energy System Operator is the independent body responsible for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system. The ESO, including all of its existing roles, are now at the heart of the new National Energy System Operator. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working significantly to create an organisation the energy system and its users' need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen, and crucially consider the trade-offs between them. The organisation is set up as a public corporation with its own Board of independent directors, with complete operational independence from government, the regulator and any and all commercial interest. As was the ESO, NESO will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable and secure way for all. The time to deliver is now. As part of our team, you won't just be touching the lives of almost everyone in Great Britain - you'll be shaping the way we use and consume energy for generations to come.
- Knowledge of transmission network operation and system security standards.
- Strong decision-making skills under tight timescales.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Recognised engineering or technical degree level or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Sustainable Energy, Power Systems, or related fields.
- Previous experience in Transmission System Control, Network Planning, or Network Design.
- A background in working for or with transmission operators (TOs), distribution network operators (DNOs), or specialist energy consultants will be a significant advantage.
